Our Practice Philosophy

  1. Finding the Right Fit

What sets us apart is our intake system. Your first point of contact is the Clinical Director, Zell. He’ll help you figure out which therapist would be the best fit for you since he knows his team’s working style.

After that, you’ll have free 15-min a consult with the Counsellor to make sure you feel comfortable with them before booking your first session. All the research and our experience has shown how important fit is for this process. We do not charge you for consults, and do not book sessions without consults first to ensure you’re on the right track. In the event your intake email requests a specific person or area of expertise, Zell may skip the initial consult and connect you directly with a counsellor to do a consult directly with them.

  2. Professional Development

We are honoured to get to do what we do for work, and we are dedicated to professional development. This ensures that we are always delivering ethical and optimal care to you. We are committed to providing you with a non-judgmental, confidential, and supportive space for you to heal and grow. Whether you’re looking for better coping strategies, new perspectives, knowledge, resources, or to get to know yourself better, our team is here for you.

Our team consists of Independent Registered Counselling Therapists who meet regularly to discuss our professional development, support each other, and exchange theories and techniques. This ensures our whole team is continuously growing and learning, able to support you through an ever widening set of struggles. We even have a book club to that effect! We are devoted to professional development and introduce each other to new ideas regularly. Our goal is to always make sure we're the therapists we wanted to be.

  3. Counsellor Led Practice

I’ll be uncomfortably blunt with you on this: there are a lot of practices out there run by people who know nothing about counselling, hiring subcontractors at every step, trying to maximize how much they can charge the client, and minimize how much they pay the counsellor. These environments inhibit counsellor growth, may have high turnover, and usually do not deliver the quality of care you deserve.

It’s just the 4 of us and a monthly bookkeeper. Since we’re virtual, we pass the savings on to you where possible. We do not have a large ad budget, heavily relying on the quality of work we do leading to word of mouth referrals.
